This year, for the fifth time, the large 50x50x50 overview exhibition will be held in the Franzensfeste fortress. Under the title FREIRÄUME-OPEN SPACES the exhibition shows works by more than 50 contemporary artists who are particularly associated with South Tyrol. Whether born here, living here or abroad, or newcomers, as artists with professional standards and a wide range of exhibition activities, they represent what distinguishes a lively artistic life in and outside of South Tyrol today: To claim freedom of thought and action and to fill it with new, refreshing horizons.

From the 8th of June to the 8th of September, the art show curated by Hartwig Thaler will occupy the interiors and exteriors of the fortress grounds and transform them into a festival of the arts. A supporting programme with performances from dance, literature and music will accompany the exhibition throughout the summer.
The exhibition 50x50x50 FREIRIRÄUME-OPEN SPACES, supported by the Landemuseum Festung Franzensfeste and the OPPIDUM association, was opened on Saturday, June 8th from 10.30 a.m. in the presence of Angelika Fleckinger, managing director of the South Tyrolean Provincial Museums, the mayor of Franzensfeste and president of the OPPIDUM association Thomas Klapfer, the artistic director Hartwig Thaler, many of the exhibiting artists and numerous interested people.
