The Franzensfeste fortress resembles a huge labyrinth of walls, rooms and stairs and invites you to discover it. On the walls you can see writings and drawings of soldiers, the rooms are sometimes dark and sometimes flooded with light and every staircase leads into a new, partly unexplored world. The two bridges that seem to float freely above the lake and the remote Middle Fortress offer plenty of room to move and unusual photo motifs.

The fortress can also be used as a meeting place, as the spacious inner courtyard with its many winding corners allows you to spend a relaxing day with friends. Here you can also have a picnic and later look around in our museum shop for cool products like Upcycling bags.
