art X women – Art against violence towards women

Time period

17. October – 09. November 2025

About the exhibition

A powerful sign of solidarity and humanity

With art X women, the Franzensfeste Fortress together with the Brixen Women’s Shelter Service sends out a strong signal against violence towards women.
This non-profit project combines art and social commitment: artists from diverse disciplines – painting, photography, sculpture, graphic art and literature – contribute works that will be exhibited and sold in the historic rooms of the Fortress.

All proceeds will go directly to the Brixen Women’s Shelter Service, which for over 20 years has provided protection, accommodation, psychosocial support and legal counselling for women and children in need.

Why art X women?
Violence against women is a global, devastating problem – often happening within families. According to a United Nations report, one third of women worldwide experience physical and/or sexual violence during their lifetime. With art X women we want to raise awareness, encourage people not to look away and make clear: this concerns us all.

Exhibition and sale
The works will be on view from 17 October to 9 November 2025. Every artwork sold provides direct support for women and children in need.

 A project with a message
art X women is more than an exhibition. It is a social and political statement, a creative response to a painful issue – driven by solidarity, humanity and the power of art.
