The Nature of Form: Properties of Imagination x

Time period

03. December – 09. April 2017

About the exhibition

The fortress of Franzensfeste embodies stability, durability and endurance. Its spatial concept shows us the shapes of the vaults made of mass-produced bricks and standardized granite blocks, which are produced and manufactured locally and joined with high precision craftsmanship. The efficient, almost filigree structures and ephemeral architectural spaces of the koge unit behave similarly and at the same time as a counterpoint. The self-forming processes and forms, i.e. the physically informed principles inspired by nature, open up new spatial and constructive approaches in architecture. Their exploration leads to a light, geometrically intelligent, bending, bending and joining tension. Investigated and further developed both on the physical model and through digital simulations, these results translate into sustainable design and construction.

Incorporated into the research work and the world of forms of this approach to architecture, the special exhibition “The Nature of Form” presents selected projects on the theme of the fortress of Franzensfeste, as well as model studies and prototype space installations.
