– homage to Friederike Mayröcker

The project was created in 2024 to mark the 100th anniversary of Friederike Mayröcker’s birth in collaboration with Literatur Lana and the Südtiroler Künstlerbund (South Tyrolean Artists’ Association). The compositions by Caroline Profanter, Hannes Hölzl, Hannes Kerschbaumer, Reinhold Schinwald, Marco Döttlinger and Beat Furrer enter into a musical dialogue with texts by Friederike Mayröcker and shed light on her diverse oeuvre.

For over six decades, Friederike Mayröcker wrote poems, radio plays, prose texts and novels that achieved an unmistakable intensity in their linguistic dynamism and explosive power. At work here is an extremely acute perception, a sharp observation of the world and an alert physical awareness that manifests itself in poetic radicalism. Nothing is spared: no everyday occurrence, no reading, no friendships and no dreams, which she drew to her like unheard-of children. Friederike Mayröcker’s engagement with the world is her poetic appropriation: ‘[…] a jerky expulsion of associations, a lightning urge, the eye also diligently fixes, that happens to our bodies, that happens with our bodies, that happens as with our bodies, we will not unravel it, I say […]’.
