Auf den Spuren der 88. Division

To mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion in May 1945, a group of interested people from Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland are organising a tour of South Tyrol with around 30 historic military vehicles from 16 to 18 May 2025, travelling from the Brenner Pass to Naturns.

Allied soldiers were stationed in the Franzensfeste Fortress – the facility served as an ammunition depot and the gold of the Italian National Bank was also stored there for a time – so a stopover will be made here. The vehicles will arrive at the fortress on the evening of 16 May and can be seen here throughout the day on 17 May.

In the evening, the vehicles will leave the fortress for Plaus, where an information event will be held with the Plaus local history association on 18 May.
