Expression of interest in curating the FORT biennale_02

After its first edition in 2024, the provincial museum the Franzensfeste Fortress is planning to continue the new exhibition format FORT biennale for contemporary art in 2026. A team of curators is being sought to take on the artistic direction.

The subject of the commission is both the content concept and the implementation of the exhibition, including the accompanying
supporting programme in the months from June to mid-November 2026.

The curatorial concept should reflect Franzensfeste Fortress in its role as an open cultural venue – a place where history comes to life, where past and present meet, and where art enters into a dialogue with the historical spaces and promotes cultural exchange. It should be noted that the entire fortress is a listed building.

The theme for the 2026 art biennial is ‘Zusammen-kommen/ In-contrarsi/ Comingtogether’.
