About the event

The Upper Fortress is a very special highlight of Franzensfeste Fortress and is only accessible as part of a guided tour!

The exciting and challenging ascent leads via the underground staircase with its 452 steps up to the Upper Fortress. This part of the fortress is still particularly pristine and offers fascinating insights into the history and architecture of the complex. Another highlight is the impressive view from the viewing platform of the Upper Fortress. From here you have a unique view of the Lower and Middle Fortress, the village of Franzensfeste and the surrounding countryside.
