Night tour – The Franzensfeste in the dark 3

On Sunday 31 August, an extraordinary experience awaits you at the fortress: at nightfall, we will open the gates to a special guided tour that combines history, atmosphere and sky observation.

Together with our guides, you will embark on a tour of the fortress at night. By the light of torches and candles, you climb the underground staircase to the Upper Fortress, where the dim light and silence create a special atmosphere. Along the way, you will learn fascinating facts about the history of the complex – from its beginnings to its changing use and the present day.

Once at the top, you are treated to an impressive view over the valley at night and the illuminated Lower Fortress. At the same time, you can explore special areas of the Upper Fortress that are not normally accessible at night – an impressive interplay of history, architecture and night-time atmosphere.
