About the event

The Upper Fortress is a very special highlight of the Franzensfeste Fortress and can only be accessed as part of a guided tour!

The exciting and challenging climb leads up the underground staircase with its 452 steps to the Upper Fortress. This part of the fortress is still particularly original and offers fascinating insights into the history and architecture of the complex. Another highlight is the impressive view from the viewing platform of the Upper Fortress. From here, you can enjoy a unique view of the Lower and Middle Fortresses, the town of Franzensfeste and the surrounding landscape.
