Langtext

The Brenner Railway will celebrate its anniversary on 31st of August 2017. 150 years after its construction, the railway transports passengers and goods. The dawn of the new railway era corresponds today to a new way of thinking about mobility, which is based on the parameters of efficiency and speed, respect for the environment, economy and safety. The festivities around the Brenner Railway also provide the setting for the award ceremony for the participants in the photo competition, the opening of the photo exhibition and the presentation of the book. The competition largely took into account the objective of a holistic view of the railway structures that shape the landscape from Innsbruck to Verona. In addition, the efforts made by looking through the camera went in the direction of a new public perception of the habitat crossed by the Brenner railway.
The jury of experts had to evaluate about 400 images, which mainly concerned the infrastructure of the Alpine Railway in the context of the surrounding settlement area. A selection of the best photos is documented in the book "150 years of the Brenner Railway, from stagecoach to high speed". The works from the photo competition, the latest highlight of the Railway Landscapes exhibition, can be seen in the fortress of Franzensfeste until 30 September 2017.

The photo competition and the exhibition are an initiative of the Kuratorium für Technische Kulturgüter in cooperation with the fortress of Franzensfeste and the Archive for Architecture of the University of Innsbruck.
