Sneak Preview: The secret journey leads to South American sounds in the Franzensfeste Fortress.

Langtext

As if the heavens did not want to reveal the secret of the venue for as long as possible, the floodgates opened one hour before the start of the evening for a summer thunderstorm that ended right on time for the start of this journey into the world of tango and South American rhythms, but did not cool down the expectant mood of the audience. BrixenClassics had chosen the mythically illuminated Franzensfeste Fortress as the venue, which with its imposing, martial backdrop formed an exciting counterpoint to the Sneak's emotionally impulsive South and Latin American programme.

The evening was opened by the enchanting flutist Jessica Jiang, who led the audience with her music through the tunnels of the fortress to one of the lower-lying supply casemates, where various formations of the BrixenClassics Festival Orchestra and singer academists of the Klanglabor project celebrated this South American evening. Over a glass of wine and tapas interpreted in South Tyrolean style, the audience enjoyed the skilfully and lustily performed works of Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla, Carlos Gardel and other South American composers, before the programme reached its brilliant climax with Vibrez! by the Italian cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima. Rousing applause from the enthusiastic audience, which was bid farewell at the end of the evening by the orchestra's brass formation with lively southern sounds from the Franzensfeste Fortress. A successful sneak preview that the visitors and artists will remember with joy for a long time to come.
